K9 Unit

The K9 department consists of two units namely; Detection K9s and Patrol K9s. Our K9s are bred almost solely inhouse to ensure the correct temperament is achieved for the working K9s specific duty. We are one of few within the K9 service industry to adopt the policy of one K9 handler per K9. We believe that this is the only way to ensure consistent and reliable results between the K9 and its handler.

Explosive Detection Dogs

This K9 unit was established in 1998 in direct response to the increase of urban terror within the Western Cape. With the South African Police Service being inundated with bomb threat calls, we have bridged the gap and now offer our clients the service of having explosive detection K9s at their disposal. Our Explosive Detection K9s are subject to three months of training where they are taught to detect devices containing explosive materials as well as several explosive raw materials. Explosive Detection K9s are assessed as puppies to assure the correct temperament for Explosive Detection. These K9s are not aggressive given their interaction with the public and/or guests.

Narcotics Detection K9

Illegal drug use is a major concern for many individuals and organisations. Our narcotics detection K9s are a response to this concern, providing the use of narcotics K9s to our clients. Our Narcotics Detection K9s are subject to similar training to Explosive Detection K9s, using a world renowned synthetic, scalable and consistent sent replicator in order to imprint our K9s on several various illegal and even prescription narcotics. The natural personality and drive displayed from Detection K9s during early training will determine whether the K9 will move to Narcotics or Explosive Detection.
